Who we are:

The Sarasota Jewish Chorale is a group of 30+ gifted singers with a unique repertoire of Jewish music, sung in Hebrew, Yiddish, Ladino and English. Our mission is to share Jewish heritage and history through music, with the greater Sarasota-Manatee community.


 
The chorale was founded in 1999 by a small group of people who had been members of choruses in their home towns.  They were determined to create a choral group dedicated to perpetuating Jewish culture through entertainment, musical education and community service.
The group consists of men and women who sing four-part harmony.  Currently, the chorale is fortunate to include one cantor, a former professional singer, and many individuals who are active in several other singing groups.

The Sarasota Jewish Chorale is a member of the Sarasota Arts Council.


Our Conductor:
Martha Kinney Kesler
joined The Chorale in 2002. 
She has a Bachelors Degree
in Music Education from St.
Andrews College, and has
studied music at Montreat
College and Florida State
University.  She is active in the Sarasota Senior
Theater as conductor of its music group, "Forever Young Singers."  She is always busy
performing, directing, building scenery and sewing costumes for stage groups around Sarasota.  She has taught and led music for people of all ages in choirs as well as in musical theater.  Martha has sung on four continents with the New Hampshire Friendship Chorus and in auditioned performance groups in the US and West Germany.
